From Newborn to Berry Big Girl

Oh, this one was an absolute treat! Zara’s Berry First Birthday Cake Smash was the perfect mix of sweetness, sass, and so many splashes. I first met this little love as a sleepy newborn, so to see her back in my Romsey studio at 10 months old — walking, giggling, and full of cheek — made my heart melt.

It all starts with cake

The cake for Miss Zara’s Berry First Birthday Cake Smash was an absolute showstopper — a 5-inch vanilla dream crafted by the talented Rhi at Rhi’s Bakes and Cakes. Beautifully unique, the buttercream was textured to mimic the delicate bark of a paperbark tree, giving it a rustic, whimsical feel that perfectly matched the strawberry theme. Adorned with juicy fresh strawberries, cheerful artificial daisies, and topped with an adorable strawberry-themed “ONE” cake topper, it tied the entire setup together in the sweetest way. Every detail was thoughtfully designed, and it photographed like a dream!

We Started Soft and Sweet

We kicked things off with a clean, simple setup. Zara wore the most beautiful little white dress covered in daisies. The setup was soft, fresh, and full of light – the perfect nod to her spring-inspired theme. Surrounded by delicate white florals and warm neutrals, she gave us the sweetest smiles and curious glances. This part of the session was calm, dreamy, and oh-so-gorgeous.

Time to Smash the Cake

Then it was time to turn things up a notch — cue the Berry First Birthday Cake Smash setup! The studio transformed into a strawberry dreamland with pops of red, pink and white. The cake? A little masterpiece, topped with juicy strawberries and daisy details. Zara changed into the most adorable pink “One” romper with strawberries all over it. I just about melted — it suited her bubbly personality perfectly!

She didn’t hold back — hands dove in, frosting flew, and within moments we had cake from her nose to her toes. Berry First Birthday Cake Smash magic, right there!

The Splash Heard Round Romsey

But the real fun came in the bath splash. And oh my stars — this girl knows how to make a splash! Once she was in the tub, Zara kicked and splashed with so much excitement that I’m still not sure how much water was left by the end. There were giggles, water droplets flying through the air, and the biggest grin on her little face. It was joyful, chaotic, and the perfect end to her Berry First Birthday Cake Smash.
