He arrived four weeks early. Not quite ready by the calendar. By every other measure, perfectly himself.

His name is Atlas. Named after the Titan who holds the world on his shoulders. He came into this world at 36 weeks, small and strong, held by two parents who had waited a long time to meet him.

Jae and Haydn walked a hard road to get here. There was a loss first. The quiet grief of a miscarriage, and then the tentative, careful joy of falling pregnant again. Some complications along the way. A delivery that came sooner than expected.

But he arrived. Happy and healthy. Just small.

This session was never just a photoshoot. It was a reckoning with how far they had come.

A Session Built on a Dream

Jae had a vision she had held for a long time.

She had always dreamed of making her baby look like a Snugglepot or Cuddlepie. If you grew up reading May Gibbs, you know exactly what that means. Round, sweet, and soft. Nestled into native leaves, surrounded by the warm ochre and olive greens of the Australian bush.

We built the session around that. Gumnut tones. Natural textures. The colours of the land, earthy and warm. Colours that would sit perfectly against the natural palette of their Stirling home.

For Atlas, we wove in something else. A nod to the Titan he is named for. A boy who arrived early and held his own from the very first breath.

The Photographs They Asked For

Haydn had one request. He wanted to be photographed with his son asleep against his chest. That quiet, unguarded moment. A new father at rest, his baby settled into him like the most natural thing in the world.

That photograph will live on their wall for decades.

Jae had two requests. The little bum shot. Tiny feet, perfectly curled. The one that gets framed for the bathroom wall and makes visitors smile. And the snugglepot hat, which she had dreamed of long before Atlas was born.

We got all of it.

What Jae Said

When Jae received her photographs, she said: “The attention to detail throughout is so impressive.” And then: “I’m not crying. You’re crying.”

That second one is the one we keep.

Artwork Made for Their Home

Jae and Haydn have an earthy home. Natural textures. Warm tones with pops of orange, yellow, and green. Atlas’s photographs are designed to belong there.

Not files on a hard drive. Not a digital album that never gets opened.

Framed prints on their walls. His first days, preserved. The tiny details that pass so quickly and deserve to last a lifetime.
