Goal Setting in 2025

As we step into 2025, it’s the perfect time to reflect, reset, and set new intentions. Goal setting is a powerful way to map out the future, and it’s something I am always excited about, both for my personal life and business. This year, I’m all about setting clear and meaningful goals—because as a mum, wife, and photographer, there’s no better way to ensure that 2025 is a year filled with joy, growth, and plenty of precious memories.

Goal Setting Strategies

To make sure I stay on track with these goals, I’m using several strategies that have been recommended by experts in the field of goal setting.

  1. Break Goals into Smaller Steps: According to productivity expert, Michael Hyatt, breaking goals down into smaller, actionable steps makes them feel less overwhelming. By creating a roadmap for how to achieve each goal, I ensure progress without burnout. Read more about goal setting from Michael Hyatt here.
  2. Track Progress: Tracking progress regularly helps keep me accountable. This could be through a journal, an app, or simply by checking in with myself every few weeks. Knowing where I am in relation to my goals makes it easier to adjust when necessary. This article on goal setting by Forbes provides helpful insights on how to track and stay on course.
  3. Celebrate Wins: As we’ve done in our family this year with the gratitude jar, it’s important to celebrate every win—no matter how big or small. By acknowledging successes along the way, I stay motivated to keep going. Psychology Today explains the benefits of celebrating small wins and how it helps build momentum.
  4. Stay Flexible: Goal setting isn’t about rigidly following a plan but about staying flexible. Life happens, and sometimes the best things come from unexpected moments. I’ve learned that being open to change is just as important as sticking to a plan. This article from Harvard Business Review offers great advice on how to stay flexible with your goals.

With these strategies in place, I feel confident that 2025 will be a year of growth, adventure, and creative expression for me and my family. I hope this post inspires you to set your own meaningful goals for the year ahead.

The blow template may also help you to plan our your goals to make it easier to tick them off as the year goes on.

Goal Setting in 2025

Here are my personal, family, & business goals, & some strategies I’m using to stay on track!

Family Goals: Exploring the World and Creating Memories

One of my biggest goals this year is to spend more time with my family—exploring the world before my pre-teen children get too old to want to hang out with Mum and Dad. The moments we share now are priceless, and I’m determined to make the most of them.

We’ve got a list of adventures on the horizon, from short road trips, long road trips, to tick off our bucket list items, like trying iFly and celebrating Rori’s 13th birthday in South Australia. I can’t wait to meet my newest niece and enjoy experiences like seeing Metallica live. I’m also thrilled to have family photos taken by the incredibly talented Fable and Fig while we are visiting SA.

But it’s not all about big events. I want to make the most of rainy days and celebrate the little moments in life. A new thing this year is putting a note in a jar each week that highlights something we’re grateful for, have achieved, or are proud of. By the end of the year, we’ll have 52 notes to reflect on—what a beautiful way to look back on the year! And, of course, I’m making sure my husband gets as many Harley rides as he deserves. He works so hard, and these moments of relaxation are so important.

Personal Goals: Health, Self-Care, and Continuous Learning

Personally, my health is always a priority. Living with sarcoidosis presents its challenges, but I’m committed to managing it while still living my best life. Setting aside time for my health, exercise, eating, or just ensuring I take a step back when I need it.

Another personal goal is to read or listen to at least one book a month. Whether it’s a biography, a business-related read, or something fun, I find that books help me grow and recharge. I’m also carving out time for self-care. A massage, a trip to the movies, or lunch by myself, little acts of self-love are essential to my well-being.

Business Goals: Growth and Inspiration

Business goal setting in 2025 is about continually improving the experience I provide for clients and keeping the creativity flowing. One goal is to write a newsletter that inspires and connects with my audience — sharing tips, ideas, and the latest from my world.

I’d love to travel more this year for work, bringing my love for new places and capturing life together. Last year saw me fly to Italy and photograph two amazing families and that experience was incredible.

Elevating the overall experience for my clients, sending birthday/Christmas cards again, pre-session goodies, launching an amazing referral program. I also want to keep things fresh and exciting by offering pop-up mini sessions (like Halloween!!) just because — keeping my clients engaged and inspired.

In addition, I’ve set a creative goal to photograph something creatively at least once a month. This will allow me to push my artistic boundaries and continually grow as a photographer.

Goal Setting in 2025: A Year of Possibilities

Whether you’re focusing on family, personal growth, or business goals. Goal setting is about envisioning the future you want to create and taking intentional steps to get there. 2025 is filled with excitement and possibility, and I encourage you to set your own goals with intention and heart.

Goal Setting in 2025: Reflect and Look Forward

As I reflect on my goals for 2025, I realise just how important it is to take time to nurture all aspects of life—family, health, creativity, and business. It’s about balance, growth, and making sure I don’t take a single moment for granted.
